LANDSCAPING SURVEY

Landscaping is the largest part of our estate fees, and so its important we have the best contractors in place, the right tasks prioritised, and that our money if being respected, used appropriately and where necessary.

As resident directors, our focus is on making tangible improvements to how our estate is looked after and ensuring our shared budget delivers value. While the estate has fixed legal and maintenance obligations, we do have scope to rethink how our spaces and services are managed.

Please take a couple of minutes to share your views on where you think we should focus our efforts, and please just be mindful with your feedback considering the recent Summer weather. All submissions are listened to, and any decisions are made for our community as a whole.

All information submitted will be used solely for the purposes for landscape contract review, selection and creating a scope of work for contracts to fall within pre-agreed budgets and financial expectations. We thank you for your time.

Thinking about your responses above, are there any comments you’d like to provide regarding your scoring to help us understand areas for improvement and areas where things work well?

We are exploring more resilient, attractive, and sustainable approaches to our shared green areas. Which of the following would you support? Any ideas taken forward would only be progressed within budget and may be run as small-scale experiments before any wider roll out.

Replacing some turf areas, especially around swales, with resilient, evergreen lawn alternatives (e.g. yarrow, micro-clover) that stay green in dry weather and remain soft underfoot

Introducing more dedicated wildflower and meadow areas to support local wildlife

Shifting focus from routine lawn mowing and hedge-trimming towards more proactive, hands-on garden care (e.g. shrub pruning, mulching, hand-weeding, and seasonal border planting)

Planting some areas with additional seasonal bulbs

Gradually replacing non-native or invasive planting with native species

Replacing chemical weedkillers with effective alternatives

Charles Crescent play area near Hall Road (sand pit) – expand planted areas to focus on a more natural environment. As a result of a health and safety inspection, some replacement / changes need to be addressed which is why this question is specific to this area (What 3 Words: ///olive.skill.owner)
